Happy New Year! I hope you like the new layout of the site. It is a work in progress that is just starting and we would love to hear from you regarding any suggestions or ideas. One of the new things we wanted on our new site was a window to communicate directly with the folks who have supported and enjoyed the voices and talents presented by Hidden Beach. While we will clearly use this window and our presence on some of the social networks such as Facebook to let you know about what’s cooking in our ovens we also want to be able to shine a spotlight on voices of a different kind.
For the last decade we presented the best of the best of musical voices with “something to say”. This will continue but as this year starts we will be broadening this platform help showcase a wide spectrum of human beings beyond those with musical talent with the same focus on those who have “something to say”. That just might include you. From bloggers to fine artists our intention is to share some of the inspirational thoughts, work, art, sights and sounds we come across. You will soon find here and in other Hidden Beach related pages some of the folks that have moved me and many others at Hidden Beach that we think others should now about. One of the first to be featured here is my dear friend D.J. Riley.
D.J. has one of the warmest and biggest hearts of any human being on the planet. He is a remarkable person with much insight to share. D.J. is a profound music lover and has gotten to know many artists (especially the jazz musicians) personally when he was more mobile than he is today. But, while much of the musician community knows D.J. he is largely unknown by the general public. Everyone should know him. D.J. has hosted an Internet radio show and written a blog for sometime so it is not the he has tried to keep his voice hidden. Nevertheless, every time I get one of his wonderful emails to friends I can’t help but thinking EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS. This desire to share is exactly what has lead to every single signing of an artist at the label and is still the force that drives us today.
Another such voice is Charles Poole. Charles, another major music lover, is a big personality from corporate America who recently heard a calling to write and share his very personal insights. This led him to first start writing friends, then a blog and now books. His path recently inspired him to quit his high-ranking very influential job on a leap of blind faith. He too will be heard here.
I hope you will use this site to direct us to folks “with something to say” you think should be heard. We have much much more planned than the occasional musings of people like D.J. and Charles and would love it for you to be a part of the new Hidden Beach as we build it.
Happy New Year
All the best,
