September 10th, 2007 at 10:07 pmJill is “AWESOMELY HUMAN”. God has kissed this woman with a gift that is far beyond platinum albums, sold out concerts, oscar winning movies, and VIP entries. Through her we learn to embrace our faults, successes, mistakes, and joys. She removes the veneer and allow us to share her journey and I am so grateful for that.
Thanx Jill

September 11th, 2007 at 2:21 pmJill Scott, you are one of my favorite artists of all time. I am glad you have a new record coming out and I can’t wait until you come back to Memphis. I hate to hear that your marriage didn’t work out, but maybe you will have that love one day. I know that I hoping one day that special man will come my way. Love ya and as Memphis Mayor’s Campaign Solgan says, “Shake the haters off.”

September 14th, 2007 at 11:30 amwow… before now, all I had heard of Jill’s voice was singing. This is my first time ever seeing her talk and hearing what she really feels. I thought she was extremely beautiful and her voice is like thunder and honey. Now that I’ve listened to her talk… I feel like I know her and I love her personality (Beautiful Jill) all the way. I admire her for doing what she needed to do and not being afraid of success and God’s blessings and understanding that all things and sometimes people are here for a season in our lives to teach us things. Keep your head up, Jill. Love ya!

September 14th, 2007 at 11:32 amJill
I love that you 1) make the space to feel and reflect on your life and your experiences for yourself 2) that you share your thought process 3) that you present it in a beautiful way that your brothers and sistas can relate to.
We all have the same struggle, it is just a different story. I like your story. It moves me.
Thank you for your AWARENESS. I do hope that parents will be selective in what they allow their babies to listen to. I am a parent and it hurts me that our young ones ears are not shielded more often.
Jilly – You are beautifully human! I am happy that you do not allow anyone to get in the way of what YOU are feeling.
Peace.

September 14th, 2007 at 6:02 pmAs an artist and as a “Real Black Woman”, I truly love you from one sister to another. You are an absolute blessing to us all as a sisterhood of strong black women! The pictures that you paint and the stories that you tell through beautiful songs are absolutely liberating. I also see your music as sources of confirmation for my mind and spirit because of the realiness that you ALWAYS have had to offer. After seeing your interview, I received yet another confirmation that it’s ok to be who I am as a young black woman and expect only the best from anyone that I should allow into my inner circle. I pray that God’s abdundant blessings continue to flow in your life and please know that your “haters” are in a sense your biggest fans…..you’re constantly on their minds. Peace, Love, and Blessings

September 14th, 2007 at 6:22 pmI can’t believe that anyone would not like what you represent! Your music, your words are so on point. What’s to not like. You sing of self love, unity, life and all that it entails. I love hate on me because that’s all these crazy, mis-guided people are…haters. As you said, no weapon formed against you shall prosper because you girl are more than a conqueor! believe that. To me you are a beautiful, strong, honest ( and yes I don’t know you personally) warm spirited woman….black woman who radiats what a black woman should strive to be. pure joy..it’s in your smile. thanks for making beautiful music, keep smiling and singing and most of all keep that beautiful mane of hair natural for all of us sista’s who need to see natural beauty.

September 14th, 2007 at 6:34 pmWow, i have always been inspired and amazed by Jill Scott’s music..her music is like my theropy. the words that she sings to her song speak to my soul in a way that most people will never understand. i definitely felt her when she said, “i dont write on demand”. and i noticed that pattern with her even before she made that statement. But boy when she does drop an album that shit is always off the CHAIN. she wasnt lyin when she said; “if i feel like cooking, you’re gonna have a meal, and you’re gonna be lickin your wrist!”. i lick my wrist and elbows everytime i hear her albums. hope she continues to prosper and cook those damn good meals. I LOVE YOU JILL, hope to get the chance to grace yur presence one day!

September 14th, 2007 at 11:18 pmI wasn’t able to see all of Jill Scott’s interview, and I don’t know what’s wrong with You Tube’s site. From what i was able to view, Jill Scott just warms my heart. The way that she presents herself is that of what i believe her to be (a beautiful human). When i hear her speak it just gives me chills. I feel that she’s very deep and she definitely inspires me. Even the song “Hate On Me” helped me to look within myself and be ok with me, to not worry about pleasing people or peoples that don’t give a damn about me anyway,(people that are hating on you)- if you will.I makes me feel so good that we are both from Philly too. I love, love, love and love Jill Scott. From one beautiful human to the next, Thank you Jill Scott.

Chandra Says:
September 14th, 2007 at 11:32 pmJill Sweetie – I am so proud of you – and a few other “young people” (I’m 50) that have come to your level of understanding at such an early age. Yes – I said EARLY AGE – ’cause to me, you are still young. It took me a hellova lot longer to get to the level of self-acceptance I have now.
Like you – I’ve come to accept that “haters” will always exist. Fortunately, I’ve FINALLY learned the only person I control – is ME.
I wasn’t aware that you are no longer with your husband. I’m really sorry that you had to go through that pain, but at the same time, the entire experience – from its inception to its end – is what you both needed to reach an even deeper self-awareness. And – look at the creativity that has come out of it! Look at how many people you are touching – even HEALING with your stories!
There are no “accidents” in the Universe. Adversity is making you stronger; I don’t need to tell you that. I’m certain you know.
Like you, I’ve had people “hate” on me – for no apparent reason. But to be more accurate – people vibrating on a lower frequency are typically taken aback by the Light that people like you exude. You reflect their potential, because everyone has the capacity to be the best they can be. Lots of folk are unable to overcome the “damage” they have suffered, and morph into this ugly, cynical existence; Light like yours reminds them of fact that they have forsaken their potential. They feel their only “defense” is to “hate”, as an attempt to make themselves feel better. Of course, it doesn’t work – so instead of turning the attention towards the true “culprit” of their misery, they get a yet another temporary “fix” by hatin’ on you, and others that are resonating brilliantly.
I don’t have to tell you NOTHIN’ though, Baby! You’re doin’ it! Keep makin’ all of us who love you PROUD by continuing to DO YOU! Those of us who love your energy can’t get enough of it! I’ll be going to get your new release soon.
Stay Strong, Sweetie!

September 15th, 2007 at 2:37 amDearest Jill,
You have been a celebrant for joys, a therapist for sorrows. You have been there through breakups, hardships, self doubt, and pain. You give inspiration to go forward in life with your words of wisdom, insight, and gentle encouragement.
You maintain your integrity whilst bringing the world beautiful music you believe in. With soulful albums, your soothing voice blesses us with clarity, elegance, grace, and intelligence.
As young women today continually consume the falseness they are spoon-fed, leading them away from what’s important, you keep it real and show us what it is to live our lives like they’re golden.
Thank you for keeping me company through some thick times and many golden moments, as a soundtrack to my life. I cannot wait to continue the journey. Peace and blessings on your life, all the best with the launch of the new album, and may you find happiness in all that you do. Praise God for allowing us to witness his goodness in Miss Jill Scott, because the music you make is truely heaven sent.
Love and Kind Regards, Anne

September 15th, 2007 at 8:29 amOH!! MY!!! GOODNESS!! Miss Jill…words cannot express how much I love you and your work. My hair stylist is always on top of new music and what’not and I think for the past 2 years, I’ve asked him every time I have an appointment …..”when is Jill coming out with something new?”. He always answers me with “she’s living right now so she can write…you can’t rush Jill”.
When I heard that your new album is dropping in September, I damn near fell out. I have all of your cd’s. I listen to them as if they just came out yesterday. I love the variety of styles you use. I love your lyrics. Every track is it’s own little masterpiece. Your voice is AMAZING. You are BEAUTIFUL. There are not enough words in my vocabulary to describe how I feel.
I can tell this cd is going to be F I R E just from hearing the little snippets from the interview. Trust me, whoever doesn’t have it, will hear it coming from my truck. I’m spreading Jill Scott all over Southern California.
Take care and take as much time as you need for the next cd…

September 15th, 2007 at 8:59 amJill,
Thank you being of honest and true to yourself first and then share your experience with us. You are right about the road Hip-Hop has taken, we do need to take responisibilty for our actions and think about the future generations. What do we want to them? Love has helped me to become a better woman than I ever thought I could be and I am blessed, but even if my love disappears tomorrow I will know that I had true love and be content with that. There is nothing wrong with a woman wanting to be loved that way we should be loved but WE have to believe it within ourselves. Jill, you have shown us this through your music and I believe you have sparked a something inside of me. A voice that speaks to all women that can not find the words to express it themselves.
Thank you Jill for being the “REAL” deal.
Katrice -

Then I heard “My Love” and I was startled at your honesty and passion, just amazing. You are a true artist, taking these life experiences and honestly expressing them through your music. For me you are a story teller at heart. Thank you for being you and bringing all the love and intelligence you bring to this crazy industry.

September 17th, 2007 at 7:37 pmTHANK YOU FOR SAYING IT!!!! THANK YOU FOR LIVING IT!!! MORE IMPORTANTLY GOD BLESS YOU FOR SURVIVING/CONQUERORING IT. I feel your pain and process with every song on this cd sampler. I definitely can’t wait to buy the album and tell every woman in the world that I can reach to cop this one from the store.
The first time I heard HATE ON ME, I had just gone through something with a man I thought would love me forever. He hurt me because I was a independent woman and refused to give up. Now, I am newly single with 3 kids and needed something to push me through. God put me on the internet that day and told me to seek you and your new project out. Before that, I was thinking about giving up. HATE ON ME, gave me that spirit wake up call that I needed to make me realize that it wasn’t about me and probably never was.
So, if sistas can’t appreciate your voice, you have changed mine. THANK U sista from the bottom of my heart. I am going to wear a new needle wrecking hole in the cd before I can it home. Just listening to the sample made me think that we were going through the same/similar thing at the same time. My mind tells me that I ain’t the first but it feels like I am the last and alone. My spirit told me to DO SOMETHING! I am working on building a network to giving other sistas’ like myself a helping hand. They don’t have to be alone. And their children won’t either. I pray that I have the strength and the courage to say it out loud in front of people. Right now all I can hear are the ideas in my head and I am typing them on the computer so I can help them in a way that you helped me and didn’t even know u were.I love your spirit and wish that your life be blessed 10 times over. If ever you are in Chicago and need some support you have my email address.
Sincerely,
AnnaStesia12972 -

September 17th, 2007 at 10:44 pmthis is for Jill Scott,
I look forward to seeing you in Los Angeles, CA @ the HOB in Oct. The last time I saw you we were in Anaheim, CA. few years ago performing and the audience didn’t want to give you “NO LOVE” you had to ask “Are you out there” sad… but you and I had a good time. I sat on the front row you and shook my hand as you ended the concert because I wasn’t afraid to love and enjoy your talent. I fell in love with you, your music and your word since day one of you first album. I will away support you. Remember we have to always thank “GOD” for the struggle (i.e. Family- Friends- Lovers- Loneliness- Finance- Fame- Hills /Valleys- Highs/Lows- Hollywood’s Mess-Record Co. Mess-Our bodies whatever it is) its there to teach us in our future and to prepare us for what’s to come. I call it being in the mist of a study. Because, during this time you learn so much about you and thing around you become so clear and real. It prepares you for the life assessment and you pass it and then you move to the next level without repeating of that life’s lesson. It’s all to make us better and stronger people. It’s also called “Living life before life is lived”. I’m so proud of you Mrs. Lady J.P.S.
Forgive any spelling or grammar error I’m a Speaker not a writer…but hope you get “God’s” word. -

September 18th, 2007 at 6:36 amJill,
Don’t you sit up reading anymore negative mess. It is wasted time and energy. The Bible says to think on things that are true, sweet, pleasant, and kind. Forget about folks with that evil jealous spirit. I am proud of you and praying for you. I enjoy your music and your style. In another time and place I think we would be sisters, cause girl I know what you going through. But always remember if God is for you, who in the world can be against you. Keep looking up girl. My prayers are with you! -

September 18th, 2007 at 7:20 amjill, you are so real. I lpve, respect and honestly adore you. Its your spirit, you persona, your humanity. Since the day you came out i have been a loyal fan. I have bought every single album that you have made and almost evey one that you have been on (Ive had to buy your 1st album twice, someone else loves you too!) In essence, just keep doing what you do. You are an inspiration to everyone. Anyone who is human, anyone who dreams, and anyone who, like myself, who loves music and has been given a God-given gift to express art through song. You are truly inspiring. The truth is there will always be haters. Even when you havent necessarily done anything wrong. Moreso, when youve been so successful and try to be as right as you “humanely” can! But because your name is so well known, with the price of success comes lovers and lots of haters. Nonetheless, its the way it is. But knowing who are and being able to navigate through the good as well as the bad is what will keep you mind at ease and allow you to simply experience, learn and “keep it movin.” Thank you for your music and for sharing your experiences with us. Im so ready for the album… You always make me proud!

September 22nd, 2007 at 6:14 pmFRANCE IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!
Jill, OH LORD!!! I’m a sista from France and I’ve been one of your BIGGEST FANS ever since I heard the first notes of “Getting In The Way”.
Listen, you’re going through something quite painful but you will prevail, and as wise and profound as you are you already know this but I still need to let you know : everything happens for a reason and if it didn’t kill you it can only make you stronger!!!
As for the haters, look at all the love that you’re getting here ALONE. THE FANS LOVE FOR YOU WILL FOREVER OUTSHINE THE HATE OF THE HATERS. They hate you because you remind them of how pathetic they are, because you get ahead, you’re VIBRANT and RADIANT, you’re making something of your life, healing people’s souls while they’re not doing ANYTHING to better themselves. As long as GOD LOVES YOU, everybody else can hate you it’s still alright, HIS LOVE IS WHAT MATTERS MOST in this life!!!!!
And I’ll get the album soon as it hits the shelves on September 25th, SEE YOU IN NOVEMBER IN FRANCE JILL, I’LL BE IN THE CROWD SINGING ALONG WITH YOU AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS!!!!
You’re one of the BEST ARTISTS ever. Stay as authentic as you are. The only one who can stop you is God and yourself!!! Haters can’t do jack about this :-p

September 24th, 2007 at 3:26 pmDiscovered you a few months ago. Completely given up on the music. Lyrics was in the trash can. Simply stopped listening… Rap dominated everything… Yes knocking rap out of the park. Simply SHUT UP UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY. Then while watching a close to the heart movie. Real tear jerker!. When it went off. The end song was “Golden” I hear the words and said okay! Lyrics sound great… and they say something to me… This is how I live my life… My wife said thats Jill Scott… Okay never heard of her how is she? When my wife finished I downloaded everything you made and I see you have something to say… I’m Listening…. Also pay no attention to those who are hating… I love what you have to say…. September 25th, 2007 at 3:04 amI wish I could say that I knew Jill before Vol. 1 but I can’t but what I can say is that from the first time I heard her voice I knew that I had found someone who was real and honest and would never disappoint. I actually got to see her in concert in Houston, Tx. and from that experience I was so moved to write a poem about the experience of what I saw, felt, heard, and lived. As most have said she is truly touched by God to deliver such wonderful insight into life and it’s wonderful to grow as a woman as she grows as a woman and taps into things that at times I can’t seem to verbalize. It’s nice to know that someone else has/had the “Celebacy Blues”. It’s nice to know that someone else feels “how can I trust you when you just don’t come through like you said you would.” Thank you Jill for sharing your gift and I hope and pray that I will get the opportunity to see you again while I’m here in ATL!

September 25th, 2007 at 6:55 pmI brought the real thing cd today and I just finished listening to it. I am extremely dissappointed in it. I think Jill Scott peaked with her debut album. The live one was just o.k. The 3rd on was just disappointing. This lastet one is just awful. I must say I did like the live version of the fact is ( I need you ). I hope whatever is causing this stops. Please make something worth listening to. I really think Jill is and extremely talented woman.

September 26th, 2007 at 8:43 pmJill,
I watched your interview and everything you say I am interested in hearing more. How anyone can “HATE” on you is surprising. I always loved poetry and expressing my self. But when I heard your first album I was inspired even more. To me you are one of the most real, honest, human, down to earth artist I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t normally leave comments on artist sites However, after watching your interview and listning to you I could tell you are hurting and confused on alot. But I know you have your head on straight. There is a man out there for you “A good man” that God has made especially for you. He will find you but patience is a virtue. Do you be you. God Bless You. -

September 27th, 2007 at 8:02 amI have listened to all of the posted interviews and have commented on them all…I can not stress enough how Jill is just a sweet spirit that was put on this earth to serve many purposes. People like Jill are hard to come by. Anyone who has anything negative to say about Jill must have some mighty strong issues within themselves. Those are the type of people that have no life and get gratification out of downing others. They must know as Jill stated their comments and sly remarks will never keep her down. When someone has a purpose to serve there is absolutely nothing that can be said or done to destroy their purpose..Keep your head up!

September 27th, 2007 at 11:57 amAs I stated on another comment blog, there are only (2) women that exemplify ‘Women of Excellence’, First Lady Serita Jakes, and Jill Scott. Jill’s soul comes out through every song she speaks, she doesn’t just sing, she tells your story and mine and adds her’s in just for flavor. Jill is the truth for real.
And by the way, ‘Crown Royal’ is not for the faint of heart. Only for the grown and satisfied, even if you’re single (like me) you can use your imagination with this one.

October 29th is my birthday, and yes, I live in Atlanta, so you must make it to this city on that date! Also, I am going to try to make arrangements with your people to present you with a framed copy of a poem written about you in my newly published book “Take My Hand And Follow Me.” If you go to my website http://www.gwendyhousepublishing.com, you will see me presenting poems to Tom Joyner and Michael Baisden. Here’s a copy of the poem:JILL SCOTT
SAY IT GIRL, SING IT GIRL!Your powerful words are rockin’ my soul,
taking my intellect into higher ground;
lifting me, inspiring me, relaxing me gently.
You move me like a summer wind, blowing lightly
through a beautiful row of turquoise and purple
fully-blossomed summer flower trees,
taking me to far away places
that only a truly sensitive
and keen mind
can go.Say it girl, sing it girl!
Go on,
rock my world with your florescent words
of life-changing wisdom.
The wisdom of the old who
have seem great things
and believe that everything is possible
if you simply believe.
Your lyrics teach me about
the essence of true love.
A love that frees me from myself,
liberating me from the opinions of others,
and demonstrating to me how to
let my hair blow freely in
God’s soul-lifting and refreshing winds.Say it girl, sing it girl!
You draw out my spirit of charity
that wants to hold,
that wants to care deeply for another,
that wants to maintain a belief in mankind.
You take me into a land
where sincere lovers live,
and can see a heart beating
a million times
with the melody of immeasurable
sharing and caring.Say it girl, sing it girl!
Take us up another octave.
Yank us from the chains
that have severely blocked
our troubled minds,
leaving so many of us believing
that love is forever lost.
Continue to remind us of what two hearts
working together as one
can become.Say it girl, sing it girl!
We’re listening intensely to your words
that often delivers us
to a New World
where dreams do come true.
A world where souls meet and run freely
with the lightness of
a sincere breeze.
A land that is perfect when your heart
is truly uncontaminated,
and where your mind is free,
free, free…
from the feeling of deep,
dark blue,
and you are justly…
in a state of being the real you.Say it girl, sing it girl!

I have never experienced an artist that could draw me into every moment the way she does. Even in her speech, she is moving. Jill has inspired me to feel. She has provoked me to live and face the fullness of life no matter what station Im at in life. All the hurt and love, the pain and mania. I am in awe and deep appreciation for this womans genuine love for poetry and music.

September 29th, 2007 at 4:21 amThis album/CD is “The Real Thing”! I have not stopped playing this CD since I purchased it on September 25th, I don’t see myself ever getting tired of it. I was fortunate enough to attend the album release party that was held at Silk City in Philadelphia, and Ms. Jill was so gracious, and kind to her fans, smiling and taking pictures with strangers, groupies, etc. There was absolutely no, I’m Ms. Jill Scott back up, look at me attitude, which was quite refreshing, and suprising, and just real! I appreciate that as a fan, and as a human being. I was in Europe last fall, going through my own personal drama, and I attended this improv show in Amsterdam and I was sitting at a table with a couple from Paris, and Italy, and they asked me where I was from and I said USA/Philadlephia, and they were so excited, and then they asked me if I knew Jill Scott, and I said no, but she is a Native Philadelphian, and they were soooo excited, and they started singing some of her songs, and praising her, and expressing Europes love of her, and her music. The mans comment was that Jill is a modern day Nina Simone. I was so impressed with that, and impressed that this sista had made such an impact on the Europeans. Jill, keep doing what your doing, and the hell with the haters! Always be true to ones self, always! All the best for much success with this CD, and your other projects. Oh, I read the number one ladies detective agency about a year and a half ago, and loved it, and am so glad that you are playing that part, can’t wait to see it on the big screen. Take care of yourself, and rest when you need to!
Regards, and Blessings,

September 29th, 2007 at 6:14 pmThe thing about Jill Scott can not be condensed in one word or even sentence. When the brothers and sisters were humanly afraid of truth, love, guilty pleasures, passion, humor, simplicity of life and just being “AIGHT WITH BEING ME”, Jill Scott came along with “Who is Jill Scott?” and just brought back sweet living, loving and good nature in people. She let “me” know that it was ok. Living vicariously through that first cd just put me in another place where I felt like I was ready to love again. Look, I wanted to be exactly where Jill Scott was when she created those songs. I wanted to feel what she felt. Her second album also showed us that because of love and honesty, she has a concious and a heart but she will not wilt at any pressure. I appreciated it because I grew right with her on that album. But the 3rd album, “wheww!”, I really felt her because just as any human being (black woman at that), I hurt and I have frustrations and I have revelations and it sometimes take me days, weeks or months to work through them. But when I do work them out, I feel at peace with myself because I allowed “time” to takes its place and do its best healing. Jill Scott helped contribute that to my soul. At a time, when music, artistry and creativity is at a danger, Jill Scott is like warm, bright star above. You’re not going anywhere because you are so needed. Thank you.

I live to experience Passion and desire in everything I do in life, and like you if there is no passion then there is no activity. Human beings are made from God (Infinite thought, Prime Creator, Source energy) or whatever name we may use. The creator’s love desire, passion to create in the image likeness is our design as humans. Love, desire, and passion are active ingredients when we prepare, create, and fix, anything in life. When those active ingredients are missing the end result is lifeless with no pulsating beauty to inspire us from what was manifested. I’m writing too much LOL….

Your music was healing, love, happiness and self-acceptance all wrapped in one. Fast forward to the closing of 2007-you’ve yet to cease to amaze and I’m sure that you never will. Even when I met you at my coffee-shop job at Philly Int’l (I think in 2004), you proved that you indeed was that sweet spirited person that I always figured you were. After watching you perform the Hate On Me song and listening/watching you (& the cast of Tyler Perry’s Why did I get Married) on TV-One, I really “get” it. It probably doesn’t matter to you whether I “got” it or not but, I thought I would share with you that I understand you better and I respect who you are. I bought your new CD, The Real Thing, and I think that title is so appropriate. All of your music is so deep. For me, I have to listen to the words and put myself in the situations and then I can “feel” what you mean. WOW, your words are so powerful and have so much meaning within them!! That’s all I can say! It all makes so much sense!
Jill, you are a gorgeous and sexy woman and I admire you. I love listening to your angelic voice whenever you speak. Keep your head up girl no matter what you’re going through. GOD HAS A PLAN FOR ALL OF US AND HE WILL NEVER PUT MORE ON YOU THAN YOU CAN BEAR. Keep succeeding in life and stay positive.

To bring them outward and not let them drown us inwardly is truly a battle won within ourselves. Keep praying and being one with and within and you will surely reap more peace and reward. Much love to all the strong women who read this. Until we ever meet “Be Blessed.”

October 22nd, 2007 at 11:03 amYou are so beautiful from your face to you soul! You are so positive, proud and sure of who you are! I love that about you. You know what you want to do and you do it! That’s how everyone should live and you’ve inspired me to live that way. I really connected to you when you were talking about feelings and how we need to just feel how we’re really feeling! I can relate because I am a dancer at University of the Arts, a Philly navtive like youself. Our teacher might choreograph a certian emotion on us and we have to protray that emotion. We can’t be fake about it we have to tap into those emotions and go there. I love you not just as an artist but as a person. I’m only 19 and my friends make fun of me because i like you and they say your old and I defend you with all my mite. Because to me you have no age you’re just Jill Scott. And I love Jill Scott. I was actually fortunate to work with one of you background singers Carol Riddick. She ia awesome as well. She opened up for Earth Wind And Fire and I was Blessed to be one of her two background dancers and i was just a great experience. I love you live. I have your live album and it would just be a honor and i miricale for me if i could see you live in concert. But i do remember you performed in philly on the fourth of July and i sang every word to all of your song. Who knows how old i was then if im 19 now. lol but i enjoyed every moment! i love you. You are blessed and just keep being Jill Scott. And just kno that you have inspired me to be Krysteenah German.

October 27th, 2007 at 3:00 pmThank God for Jill Scott. There is so much bad music out here and Jill’s music is like a breath of fresh air. It reminds me of my momma’s fried chicken. The aroma is hypnotic and the taste is beyond satisfying; it’s incredibly brilliant. Keep using your God given talents. As a 30 something black woman you make me proud and believe it or not I get mistaken for you sometimes. People take a double look and I say No, Jill Scott isn’t in DE. I love your music, I have since your first CD. The Collaborations CD is HOT!! I just really enjoy where your music takes me, so much like a good book that you hate to see end. I’m coming into my own now at the age of 28 and really seeing things honestly, and feeling things honestly, and not being ashamed of how I see and what I feel. Your music is simply the soundtrack to my life experience. And I appreciate you for it!!

October 30th, 2007 at 1:59 pmI have truely had the Jill Scott Experience watching The Reel. For me, at times Jill’s music was a bit too personal sexually and I found it hard to listen to her albums all the way through more than once. I am one of those people who likes a CD to be uninterupted when I play it. But now I understand. When writing how you feel when you feel it you’re not always comfortable coming back to that place but its real and I can appreciate that. Thank you so much for what you bring to the table. Music needs you. I’m 24 years old and I can now say to my son “They don’t make music like that anymore!” like my mama told me. God Bless!

October 31st, 2007 at 1:12 pmOh, My God!!!! I have never been a fanatic, I think its because I have always been an artist but in the last couple of days I have been moved by Jill Scott. A friend of mine invited me to Jill Scott’s performance at the Freight Room in Atlanta and I had never seen her perform but I was moved to tears from her passion. And my search for Jill has increased thus leading me to this page and these video clips. I admire you, Jill if your reading, and I understand the demands that life puts on performers. People always compare me to you when I perform and that is such a divine grace. You embody such power and grace and strength in your humaness and I wish you all of the best in life, in love, and in God. So no, I am not fanatic and awestuck but I am welcome to your energy and open to your gifts and honored to listen to the sweet, real, and inspiring music that you birth. Hopefully one day, I will be able to sing next to you but until that day, I will strive to express the Goddess in me and use my voice to change the world, as you have done with yours. Keep doing what your doing, it is surely changing lives.
Peace and Blessings,

I send you greetings from Hawaiian Gardens, Ca. You are truely blessed and because that is of God … can’t NO BODY TAKE THAT AWAY FROM YOU. I can relate to what you sing about in everyway.
I grew up in Compton, Ca and now I am the mother of three beautiful Black girls and well … often times I wonder what happened to Love, Loyality, Family and Truth. Then here you come … you sing from your soul.
I love music, real music that’s saying something … music that comes from the soul.
Keep it up Girl. You BAD … and that’s all I have to say.

November 3rd, 2007 at 4:06 pmI love how real and raw her feelings are. Its refreshing to have some genuine quality artists in the music industry that are not just puppets to the CEO’s. She makes me feel proud to be a woman with more curves. I love her rich soulful vocals and the fact that she has her own sound and does not conform to the current rnb trends.
She seems like a lovely down to earth person and I definatly will buy her album. I cant wait for her to come to the uk. -

November 22nd, 2007 at 8:21 amSaw Jill perform last night and, as ever, knocked out by the integrity and passion invested in every beautiful song. Just watched those film clips – I think Jill has the ability to make everyone feel a powerful affinity with her because she verbalises something that is ‘REAL’, that we all feel deeply but that most of us don’t have the eloquence to verbalise, or melodise (Is that a word?) Thank you Jill. I feel like a 12 year old when I see you cos I leave thinking, ‘I wish she was my best friend!’ xx

December 11th, 2007 at 7:14 pmI dont know how to expose how connected I felt to these clips. It’s as if my favorite artist was sitting in the room having a conversation with me. I had so many poems rolling through my head from simplicity to Really, This is how you feel *inspired by the blog haters*…I am releasing my first poetry book in the spring and I am more than happy to say that many a poem in my 24 years and a few songs have been inspired BY JILL SCOTT. She is Beautifully Human, no pun intended. She is reality. She is a black woman who is thick, like me, relabeling beauty and talent. She is a God send to a reality where lines were drawn in concrete and she steped over them in large strides. I will follow her story where ever she is…even if I can’t make it to the Concert in Houston in Feb. I will watch what I can online, read her myspace, and ALWAYS buy her music.
Thank you for inspiring…people like me. I pray to God one day we meet.

December 27th, 2007 at 11:05 pmI own all JS albums. Love the music. I was stunned to see Jill Scott on a Bailey’s ad, plastered all over a low income predominantly black neighborhood in Oakland California. I do not see this same billboard all over upper class San Francisco. I am heartbroken that it seems that this is more of an engdorsement for Baileys as opposed to a corporate sponsor for a tour. Please take a look at where your face is. It is not looking like you are taking care of your community, rather exploiting it.

Man you sounded so happy from your lyrics from your past songs. But we all learn form what God/Jesus Christ take us through. I know I did. Futhermore, I just watch your video about your new album and I said, “Why peps hating on Ms. Scott?” Nah….. THEY JUST ENVY YOU THATS All!!!! Just keep staying real Ms. Scott and hope to see you in New York soon. Much Luv Meka

January 29th, 2008 at 8:16 amThis album is very moving and inspirational…it is such a blessing for someone to be so creative and talented that we (the audience) feel as if the artist is speaking directly to us we we listen to their music. This album is the truth and I love every song on the CD; especially, “Whenever Your Around”, because at the time I was feeling like she was singing about my life! It’s like you say to yourself, I am not the only one going through something like this and it feels good to know that.

Ishia Brooks Says:
January 29th, 2008 at 10:14 amJill, Jill ,Jill….. If you were a man, I would say “You the Man!” Fortunately, you are a woman. I watched the interview because I hoped it would answer some questions I had about this album. Where you are very eloquent and articulate, you are very good at answering but maybe not completely. That’s not a complaint, please don’t take it that way. I was instantly pissed when you said you had all that “hate” mail. Whatever inspired your music, I appreciate it. It’s unfortunate we have to feel pain but if it weren’t for the pain how could we appreciate the pleasure? Even in your pain, I felt and saw beauty. I agree that everyone needs to be loved by atleast someone. If you never have another, you have it in me. Keep doing your thang! My 7 year old son blasts Hate on Me every chance he gets. My 13, soon to be 14 year old daughter enjoys your Wanna Be Loved because she is going through some things with her biological dad. You have something for everyone in my home. I could go on and on about every track. When I saw you in Tyler Perry’s movie, I waited for you to break out in a song. Your voice reminds me of satin. Like a mother’s kiss. It provides comfort even when you hurt. To be honest I didn’t know you were divorced until my girlfriend and I discussed what we thought was on your mind with each song. I just want to say you are a beautiful human inside and out. Atleast from what I have seen. This latest project has made me re-evaluate some things about my marriage of 8 years. Made me more appreciative. Thank you and keep on keepin’ on! I wish you the best and all the love, peace, and contentment you deserve.
God Bless,

February 2nd, 2008 at 9:11 pmTruly you are a voice for this millennium. The power of your lyrics cradled in the arms of your music, have reached places that you can never imagine. It’s like the autonomy of art, when the paint brush makes the last stroke and the presentation is made, it no longer belongs to you. It now belongs to the beholder to allow it to minister to their lives. You have set such a standard of excellence with your music that has allowed millions like me and my family to enjoy for years and years to come. Personally, I would love to see you make some more political statements with your music. No doubt, you can and have impacted millions of individuals to live free and enjoy life to the fullest. How much more powerful to impact a nation, a cause, or a movement?
Truly you are a voice for this millennium. To whom much is given, much is required.
Much Support

Jill is not only a very beautiful person on the outside but inside. I wait for the day, I can be in her shoes, where I am soo comfortable in my own skin, so in love with myself, that what people say about and against me is irrelevant.
I love you Jill soo much, you are such an inspiratioinal person, and I wish I had you as a friend, to help keep me grounded and focused on what is important – Life and living.
Keep doing you and there’s not much more to pursue, I love you sister!

You have the total package. You are beautiful, you are sincere, and you put your all into every song you sing. I appreciate your artistry. Thank you for being that strong voice for so many Black women out there who’s voices go unheard. You’re probably way ahead of me on this, but never stop making your music because your music inspires.

I remember the first time I saw her in “You’re Getting In the Way”, I felt that she was Beautiful. And I’m not just talking beauty that’s appeasing to the eye, but to the spirit. For that reason and so many more, I’d like to say “Thank You Jill”!For inspiring us and blessing us with your gift . And continue to do great and marvelous things.

September 16th, 2008 at 8:56 pmTo the wonderful, talented ms. Jill Scott,
OMG!!!! you are so wonderful. girl laugh at them haters, cuz like kat said if you got twenty you betta figure out how to get to fifty by next year! you are such a beautiful person, and so DAMN talented. I’ve been watching and listening and wanting to be like you since you first appeared on the music scene. i’m only 18 but listening to you albums helps me grow as a young black woman of substance and prosperity. All I can really say is girl keep on doin what ya doin! nobody can do it like you even if they tried. what you have is a quality, a trueness about you that just shines and says HERE I AM, COME AND TAKE ME! When I saw you in Why Did I Get Married, I cried when you cried and laughed when you laughed, gosh you were such an inspiration. seeing you live is like watching one of the greats like Sara Vaughn, and the great Billie Holiday. What i’m trying to say is….I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!

December 12th, 2008 at 9:12 pmJill I just love how you keep it real. I love the way you express yourself. You make me feel as a fellow “thick girl” more comfortable with myself. I love writing poetry. I feel all the joy and pain in your music. I just love the way you express yourself. Don”t worry about what they say because the word says GOD won’t put more on you than you can bear and You can do all things through Christ which strengthen you. Love you Jill and keep on keeping on.
