Washington, D.C. — On January 22, 2009 Hidden Beach Recordings in a unique partnership with Howard University’s Office of Residence Life and WHUR radio kicked off the newly formed Living and Learning Cluster with a Kick Off Panel at Meridian Hill Hall on the campus of Howard University. The panel was put together by Hidden Beach’s Charles Whitfield, Howard University’s Dean of Residence Life Charles Gibbs, Howard University’s Assistant Dean of Residence Life Marc Lee, Howard University’s Community Director at Meridian Hill Hall Kenyatta Hobson, and WHUR Radio General Manager Jim Watkins. The panelists included:

The night also included a musical performance by Tony Rich who sang “It Would Be A Sin” off of his Hidden Beach Recordings release “Exist” and also at the request of Steve McKeever sang “The Dream is Real” off of the just released Hidden Beach Recordings compilation “Change is Now- Renewing America’s Promise” Official Inauguration CD/DVD. The panel was moderated by Charles Whitfield with closing remarks by Hidden Beach’s Thornell Jones. Reggie Saunders and Teri Hines of Jordan Brand supplied back packs, t-shirts, hats, and other items for the panel and students.

LAS VEGAS – September 9, 2008 – UNLV students will have a unique opportunity to make contacts with national leaders in sports, entertainment and business management and learn about what it takes to succeed in these fields during the “Diversity Genius: How to Break into the Biz” conference Sept. 15-18 at UNLV.

Sponsored by the UNLV Office of the Vice President for Diversity & Inclusion and Hidden Beach Recordings, the free conference brings together 30 high profile business leaders to campus for three days of focused discussions designed to inform students about careers in management and motivate them to pursue opportunities and overcome challenges that exist in the highly competitive fields of sports and entertainment.

“Beyond stressing the importance of relationship building and networking in business, this conference showcases the notion of excellence through diversity – a blend of successful business people with unique perspectives and global impact who want to interact with and motivate our students,” said Christine Clark, UNLV Vice President for Diversity & Inclusion.

The conference kicks-off Sept. 15 with a keynote address by current NBA player Bruce Bowen, who will discuss his decision to go back to school and finish his bachelor’s degree while playing professional ball even though it was not an economic necessity for him to do so.

Portland Trailblazers President Larry Miller, Nike Vice President Howard White, Hidden Beach Recordings Founder and CEO Steve McKeever and recording artist Tony Rich are among conference participants that include representatives from such organizations as IMG Sports, NASCAR, Target, Microsoft, MGM-MIRAGE and American Airlines.
